No, no, that's not quite right; I think it's been used... Let's see... How about: 'Twas the night after finals, and all through my abode, not a creature was stirring, not even a toad. My finals were over, I no longer did care. There was a party tonight; I knew I'd be there! I was tired and worn and feeling half dead while visions of four-ohs dadnced in my head. I needed a vacation, else I would drop; so I relaxed my brain, and set it to 'Stop'. I needed some food to bring to this fete, so I went to the store to find something neat. The store was dressed up in glitter and flash, I looked 'round and saw as I paid out my cash. "I'm always amazed they put on such a show." I thought to myself as I turned to go. When what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a dear friend carrying pretzels and beer! He had on a coat so heavy and thick! I know it must feel like wearing a brick. He turned and saw me and over he came; he whistled and shouted and called out my name. "I can't wait to arrive! You know that I'm fixin' to have a great time and not get TOO Blitzen!" "To the top of the hill and through the gate! Come, let us hurry and not make them wait!" With alacrity, up the hill we walked, of friends and fun and merriment shared we talked. Down the dimly lit street to the house we went, our bags full of goodies, no care what we spent. As we mounted the stairs, I heard through the door the sounds of revelrey, drinking, music, and more! When I opened the door and crossed the threshold, I saw the party was quite a sight to behold. The counter was spread with the usual stuff plus holiday treats that made the choice tough. Cookies and eggnog to make one merry; there seemed to be more than I could carry. I saw one of my hosts and greeted him: "You look great, Jeff, but your beard, it needs a trim!" He nodded and chuckled and took me by the hand and led me to the tree decorated most grand. There was a comely girl standing by the tree, who noted I was looking and came over to me. She smiled a greeting, like a jolly elf. "She's not familiar," I thought to myself. A wink of her eye and a twist of her head soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread. I spoke at length with my newly found friend and quite a few others before the night's end. After a night of laughter and talk, I rose to go home and sleep, perchance to doze. I gathered my coat to journey home and rest and told my hosts that their party was the best. And I was heard to exclaim, as I walked out of sight, "Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!" Hopefully, I won't get my poetic license revoked for that! :-) You are hereby cordially invited to attend the "Ninth End of the Semester Party" to be held Friday, December 21, 1990, starting at 7pm at 238 11th Street, 2nd Floor. As usual, it's BYOE, AND by invitation only; if you have someone to bring, check with us first. As unusual, we will also have the co-founder of these parties in attendence. Don't know who he is? Then show up and find out! We'll also be serving some of the world famous eggnog, and maybe even have some Christmas cookies or something, if we're really ambitious. For those of you who can't make it, we'd like to wish you Happy Holidays and we hope to see you here next semester! Deacon Blues (Jeff) bp (Atul) Belgarion (Mike)
