Rachel, Nevada

Nevada Route 375 has been nicknamed The Extraterrestrial Highway, owing to its proximity to the top secret government research facility named Area 51, a favorite of conspiracy theorists and space alien buffs everywhere. This moniker was blessed by the state highway department which has installed signs at the north and south ends of the road as well as at the town of Rachel.

If you look closely at the stealth fighter on the southern sign, and near the stars on the northern sign, you will see a little alien head, officially part of the sign and not from the graffiti and stickers that other folks have slapped on. It is amusing to me that the state has copyrighted their highway signs.

Rachel is the closest town to Area 51. One eatery has capitalized on its proximity and named itself the "Little A'le'inn". Reportedly it has quite good burgers, but I can't really vouch for that as I'm a vegetarian.
